With any building defect, it is essential to correctly identify the nature of the problem, before working our how best to deal with it. At Hitchin Damp & Timber, we deal with problems arising from dampness in buildings as well as woodworm and wood rot. An initial inspection is carried out, for a set fee within SG, some AL, LU, MK and CB post areas. A written report is prepared detailing the findings, recommendations and a Quotation for any specialist treatments required. If no treatments are recommended, we will say so.

An initial inspection is carried out, for a set fee within SG, some AL, LU, MK and CB post areas. |
| B. |
A written report is prepared with a Quotation, detailing the findings, recommendations and costings for any specialist treatments. This will also set out any work that may required to be carried out by others, or preparations that may be necessary before we can start. |
| C. |
Simply telephone the Contracts Office number given in the report, to arrange a convenient time to have the work done. |

Why should I pay for an inspection when most companies offer a “Free Survey”?
Well, we all know in our hearts that there is no such thing as a free lunch, and the same applies to so-called ‘free surveys’. However you look at a business, the surveyor has to be paid. Most companies pay their surveyors a salary and commission, meaning that for your “free” surveyor to earn a living, he needs to sell you some remedial work. He may even have to meet a monthly target.
When you ask Hitchin Damp and Timber to look at a potential problem, you can feel at ease that you will be given sound professional advice that is not biased by the need to recover the cost of visiting you.
