  Wet Rot
Wet rot occurs when wood gets wet and dries out again and again. Just like leaving any piece of untreated wood outside, it will become soft and decompose.

How to deal with wet rot.

1. Establish the source of the moisture and eliminate it.
2. Establish the full extent of the decay.
3. Cut out all the weakened decayed timber and treat the remaining sections with wood preservative.
4. Replace with new wood that has either been pre-treated or treated on site.
5. Always paint or protect bare wood as soon as possible.
6. Keep an eye out for the early signs of decay.
7. Clean out air bricks serving timber ground floors regularly.
